Jorge Cisneros

Retried Anaheim Police Chief

Jorge Cisneros brings over three decades of dedicated service in law enforcement, including 13 years as a police chief. He retired from the Anaheim Police Department in 2023, marking the end of a remarkable career.   

 

Cisneros began his career in 1990 at the Long Beach Police Department, advancing through the ranks until he reached the position of Commander. From 2006 to 2010, he served as the Chief of Staff, demonstrating his dedication and leadership within the department. 

 

In 2010, Cisneros was appointed as the Chief of the Huntington Park Police Department. He served as Huntington Park’s Police Chief for five years and also held the position of Huntington Park’s City Manager from 2010 to 2011.

In 2015, Cisneros took on the role of Chief at the University of California, Irvine Police Department. He proudly led a dedicated team of 90 sworn officers, community service officers, and staff. The department served a vibrant community of 35,000 students, 11,000 staff members, and 1,500 faculty members across the UC Irvine campus, the University Hills faculty and staff housing, and the UCI Medical Center in Orange. It’s an important role that supports and protects such a diverse and busy community. 

 

In 2018, Cisneros proudly stepped into the role of the 36th Chief of the Anaheim Police Department. He guided Orange County’s largest city police department with dedication, managing nearly 600 team members, including over 400 sworn officers. Cisneros was a true advocate for positive change, embracing new technology and fostering a warm, supportive environment where his staff could flourish. His inspiring leadership played a vital role in making Anaheim a welcoming and safe community for everyone to live, work, and play. 

 

Cisneros has a master’s degree in criminal justice from Chapman University in Orange and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

 

He also proudly contributes as an executive board member at the OC You Run This Town Foundation and the Anaheim YMCA, showing his dedication to community service.
