After 45 years with UPS, Bruce DD Mac Rae, the Vice President of US Government Affairs for the West Region, has decided to retire. Having 8 States encompassing his favorite of course California, Hawaii, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona he leaves the work but his friendships that will last forever. Bruce began his UPS career in 1978 as an un-loader in the Anaheim package facility. In 1983 he became a full-time driver and Teamster Union Shop Steward. Bruce entered management in 1987 where he was promoted to Preload Supervisor.
Bruce has risen through many positions, acquiring skills in Operations, Industrial Engineering, Hazardous Materials, Customer Relations, Community / Public Relations, Security and of course US Government Affairs. In addition to his regional responsibilities, Bruce plays an active role in and beyond his community. Bruce is serving on the boards of such organizations as: The Los Angeles Sheriffs Youth Foundation (Chairman) Chairman of Board of Trustees of the Battleship USS Iowa, CSULB Athletic Board, the CTA (California Trucking Association), (Past President) of the Orange County Sheriffs Advisory Council, Hawaii Transportation Association, President of the Nevada Trucking Association, Past Chairman of the Arizona Trucking Association, Emeritus on TAT- Trucker Against Trafficking and the California Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition to name a few. Bruce also supported California citizens by participating on Governor Newsom’s Emergency Task Force during the covid years.
Bruce holds strong to his responsibilities at home, in the community and at work. Bruce uses the UPS Founder James E Casey quote a lot: If what you do springs from an honest heart, the people you deal with will trust you, they will do what you ask, they will give you their loyalty, and they will follow you. Bruce is a 65-year Native of Long Beach. Bruces mom was raised in LBC and dad on Catalina Island, both found Long Beach to be the perfect home where they could raise their four children.
Likewise, Bruce did the same with his four children, Timarie, Meghan, Nick, and Jake. Bruce is recently remarried to his strong and beautiful wife Barbie and is also a grandpa-6 times over!!! After 45 years with a great company that changed his life for the better, it’s time for the next adventure. Life is simply a blessing!
